Dear Beloved Devotees of the Sacred Heart.

SacredHeart 1As we enter the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we begin an intense 30 days of true devotion to the Heart that so loved us. Let us pause and reflect briefly on this devotion:

The Church, governed and taught by the Holy Spirit, has approved and recommended devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and has instituted the Feast of the Sacred Heart which has increased in extent and solemnity over the course of many years.

Since its inception after the apparitions to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, it is celebrated as a Solemnity on the Friday after Corpus Christi. Through this Apostolate of Prayer, millions across the world offer all their prayers, works and sufferings for the intentions of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

This devotion is most appropriate during these times of religious indifference and cold-heartedness when Jesus shows to the world His Sacred Heart as a symbol of God’s infinite love - the symbol of His own self-sacrificing love for all people. He shows His Divine Heart as a furnace whose burning rays of love are able to restore our faith and rekindle love in hearts that have grown cold and ungrateful….”But why His Heart“, you may ask? It is because, in every language, the heart is regarded as the natural symbol of love and affection. What more natural and expressive symbol is there then, of the excessive love of Jesus than His Sacred Heart.

The emotions that flow from this Heart are:
* burning zeal for the glory of the Father;
* abundant love for all people;
* profound humility;
* unconquerable patience;
* self-sacrifice; and
* Devotion of self to the Father’s will.

Coupled with perpetual adoration of the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament and unceasing acts of gratitude and mercy, especially during this Jubilee Year, we should also have a burning desire for our hearts to be more and more like His.

“Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make our hearts like unto Thine” that we too, may be planted and rooted in love and become merciful like the Father.

I love you All

An Extraordinary Pilgrimage of Mercy to Ngome - 2016

Ngome2During each Jubilee Year, trhe Pope lays down certain pre-certain conditions for the attainment of grace and indulgences.
For example, the faithful should make pilgrimage, go through the Holy Door, make his or her confession, receive Holy Communion and pray for the intentions of the Holy Father.
In celebration of the Jubilee Year of Mercy, the annual pilgrimage to Ngome, the place of the seven streams “where many graces flow”, was indeed extraordinary - large numbers of pilgrims from Johannesburg embarked on this spiritual journey in 35 buses from 12-13 March 2016 to seek the graces promised by Our Lady, Tabernacle of The Most High, to Sr. Reinolda May.
To prepare pilgrims for a grace-filled experience of mercy, the pilgrimage was preceded by a Novena to the Five Wounds of Our Lord. A well-directed programme beginning with the history of the apparitions at Ngome and filled with prayers invoking the mercy of God was followed on all buses.
The crowd of 4000 pilgrims which eventually gathered at the Shrine of Our Lady maintained a jubilant mood with song and dance in true Catholic style throughout the night vigil celebration. The launch of the much-anticipated second CD of Amaqhawe e Sacred Heart Choir, “Baitshepelang Jehovah”, added to the excitement.
The Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament still remained the highlight of the pilgrimage . Everyone looked forward to the preceding praise and worship accompanied by beautiful music from Fr. Wayne’s guitar strings. Pilgrims were sent into a peaceful and reflective mood as we prepared for the entrance of the True Presence of Our Lord in the Sacrament of Love.
Ngome1During the conference session, we were reminded to reflect on the Ten Commandments as our guide to a good examination of conscience before Confession which is an abyss of the mercy of God wherein sinners are to immerse themselves.
The history of the Shrine and the Jubilee Year of Mercy and the outline of the Works of Mercy delivered by Fr. Andrew Knott was very informative and insightful and extremely helpful in understanding the relevance of this extraordinary year initiated by Pope Francis.
The summit of our celebration, Holy Mass , was celebrated by Fr. Sizwe Mkhonza and four other priests while the choir from St. Michael’s led the liturgy. Healing graces flowed as hands were laid on all pilgrims before departure on Sunday morning. An ocean of mercy opened up for many sinners on this pilgrimage as promised by the Sacred Heart of Jesus to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque.
“Sinners shall find in my Heart an ocean of mercy” was Jesus’promise to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque and we hope many more will be “merciful like the Father”.

novenaAbout the Sacred Heart of Jesus

The whole purpose of the Apostolate of Christians today is, “to demonstrate the charity of Christ in all phases of human life and thus bring individuals and society back to God.” (Dorothy Dohen)
To demonstrate this charity, we must conform our heart to Christ, unite ourselves to His heart and ultimately LOSE ourselves in Him.
That’s what the Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is all about: Uniting our Hearts with His and devoting ourselves to Him.
So when we pray the Sacred Heart Novena together, we are praying that we can transform ourselves to love as Jesus Christ does. St. Margaret Mary Alacoque wrote, “Since Love makes Lovers One in Likeness, if we Love, let us model our lives on His.”
In preparation for our Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus which will be celebrated at Centocow on the 3rd June 2016, we will pray the Efficacious Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. You are all asked to especially remember to all Priests and challenges made to us in Jesus message to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque to Love everyone Faithfully with the endless Love of Jesus.
The Efficacious Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus has started and will finish on the 3rd June in the bus on our way to Centocow. We will say our Novena together with our daily prayers at 06h00, wet fast and we will say the same the Novena again at 12h00 to close and break our fast. For those who cant not eat for medical or whatever reasons you can add dry bread to your wet fast (drinks only).
May it be a blessed, peaceful and joyful journey of reflection, fasting and on our Spirituality and the Love that Christ is.
Stay Blessed

O my Jesus, you have said: "Truly I say to you, ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you."

Our Father....Hail Mary....Glory Be to the Father....

Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

O my Jesus, you have said: "Truly I say to you, if you ask anything of the Father in my name, he will give it to you."

Behold, in your name, I ask the Father for the grace of.......(state another request)

Our Father...Hail Mary....Glory Be To the Father....

Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

O my Jesus, you have said: "Truly I say to you, heaven and earth will pass away but my words will not pass away."

Encouraged by your infallible words I now ask for the grace of.....(state another request)

Our Father....Hail Mary....Glory Be to the Father...

Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

O' Sacred Heart of Jesus, for whom it is impossible not to have compassion on the afflicted, have pity on us poor sinners and grant us the grace(s) which we ask of you, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, your tender Mother and ours.

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears! Turn, then, O most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary; pray for us, O holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

St. Joseph, foster father of Jesus, pray for us.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
